Summary:
The primary focus of this position is to create and maintain a safe working environment for all employees at Tarter Farm & Ranch Equipment while complying with all applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
The EHS Specialist will work under the direction of the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to establish and develop a culture of safety throughout all Tarter facilities.
The EHS Specialist will work with plant leadership to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for the company.
Essential Functions:
Including the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Tarter site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):
Implement and manage environmental, health and safety programs in the workplace according to regulatory requirements.
Prepare and enforce safety policies that support all corporate safety directives by:
conducting inspections, reporting statistics and counseling managers and/or employees throughout the company.
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to identify hazards and implement abatement measures to prevent workplace accidents.
Conduct training and presentations for safety and health matters and accident prevention.
Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and laws through inspections and observations of work procedures and operations.
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
Conduct investigations of incidents, near misses and property damage accidents.
Follow-up on abatement/control measures to minimize future exposure and maintain all proper records and documentation.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Report on safety and health awareness, issues and statistics.
Establish and maintain effective relationship with Managers, Supervisors and employees to develop safe behaviors and a strong safety culture.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Effective interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required.
This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility as a EHS professional.
Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and programs such as lockout / tagout, fall protection, machine guarding, confined space entry, forklift, etc.
Bachelor's Degree in safety management or related field is preferred.
Familiarity with data analysis and risk assessment.
Proficient computer skills across the MS Office Suite package.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Demonstrated analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands:
This job requires the ability to be on your feet walking around the facilities, indoors and out for extended periods of time.
Additional requirements include climbing ladders/stairs and lifting (up to 40 lbs) as required to perform necessary job tasks.
Ability to work 40
hours per week as required.
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to mitigate hazard exposure.
